Filmarine has recently entered another milestone in its history by successfully completing the IOPPC survey of the 3,120-GT cargo vessel MV SPAN ASIA 19 on May 30, 2014. Filmarine’s Canadian surveyor Christopher Helder subjected the vessel to an intensified survey for oil pollution prevention compliance while she was docked at the Manila North Harbor where she underwent compliance preparations to statutory requirements before being put into commercial service in the Philippine domestic shipping industry.
With the approval and subsequent issuance by the Philippine Coast Guard of MV SPAN ASIA 19’s Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate based on Filmarine’s Survey Report and Record of Construction and Equipment, MV SPAN ASIA 19 becomes the 800th vessel successfully surveyed and certified by Filmarine. This milestone has further solidified Filmarine’s hold as the leading local survey company for oil pollution prevention of vessels operating in the Philippine domestic maritime industry.
Through its more than 15 years in service, Filmarine has been the company of choice of domestic shipowners for the survey and certification requirements of their vessels, whether for oil pollution prevention or ship security. Included under its vessel registry are varied types of ship ranging from oil tankers, cargo vessels, passenger vessels, and training ships.
